operly also wondering why no diesel model is on the US marked today. What Wrangler enthusiast would not want to have Jeep Wrangler running 30 MPG with plenty of torque.
The Jeep Wrangler Diesel is already available in the European marked in fact in the UK you can only buy a diesel version of the Jeep Wrangler! so why not in the US?
The answer to that question is properly that Chrysler is afraid no one will buy the car. This is in my opinion stupid, the US marked for a Wrangler Diesel must be huge! Just take a look at the forums Lots of people are talking about getting a Wrangler diesel model.
If you think about the impact on the environment a diesel version running 30 MPG must be a lot better. In Europa most 4×4 wheel cars run on diesel.
Jeep has already started to lunch the Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV as a diesel model but has stated that they will first start to produce the Wrangler diesel versions within 2 to 3 years for the US marked, but why should it take so long? The car is already being produced for the European marked! Jeep should just pull them self together and put the Jeep Wrangler diesel on the US marked ASAP.
Finding a Jeep Wrangler diesel in the US
If you can’t wait for the diesel version to hit the US, then you have two potions.
You can import a European model but that will cost you dearly to get one and get it registered.
The other option is to convert your old Jeep Wrangler to a diesel, but this is not cheep aether, that will cost you $4,000 or more for just the engine and parts. You can buy conversion kits that comes with all you will need to do the conversion. If you can not do the installation yourself then this is going to be very expensive too.
So the best thing to do at the moment is properly to wait and hope that Chrysler will get the new Jeep Wrangler Diesel ready for the US marked quickly.
